My experiences with HRIS - Session One
Today was my first class on Human Resource System & Technology and I was pretty much clueless about the topics when I was entering in the class. When the lecture started,I gradually understood the concepts of HRIS , system engagement and various Technology trends. The discussion with classmates gave me even better insights on the topic.
As I understand, HR’s role in new age organizations is not just about employee communication but also about expressing organizations ethos and values to the external world with the help of social websites such as twitter, yammer, linkedin, etc. With technology playing such a key role across functions, no wonder every organization , irrespective of its size, is using technology as its key tool.
They key concepts that I learned in first class of HRIS are On premises (any software that is installed and run on computers on the premises of a person or an organization), SaaS ( software as a service sometimes referred to as "on demand software" supplied by independent software vendor's),UI (user interface) and UX (user experience).
The HRIS class was great and I hope to get more knowledge, particularly about HR specific tools in upcoming classes. As organizations are adopting new technology , it will be very interesting to understand in greater detail as to how technology is enabling and transforming HR .
